Surprise Package
The loveliest of sights awaited me as I arrived home yesterday: a package on one of the Adirondack chairs that flank our front door! At first I thought it might be an overzealous Burn, Baby, Burn participant sending a boxed set of mix CD's, but I noticed it was from our good friends Stuart and Marcia.
I hurriedly opened the package, and found the wonderful anthology of baseball stories and history, "Baseball As America," with a note stuck in the middle. When I opened the book to retrieve the note, I saw that the photo on that page was autographed by Lou Brock, former base-stealing king and one of my favorite players growing up. I was amazed, thankful, and felt very loved (in a baseball, high-five and pat you on the butt after a game-winning hit kind of way)
