"W", The Pope, Yasser Arafat and Potato Chips

President Bush raised concerns with the Pontiff about the sexual abuse by Catholic clergy today in their meeting, yet I wonder how much the Pope understood. His body wreaked by Parkinson's disease and age, the former Cardinal Wojtyla looks like a man in need of rest and my heart bleeds for him. But then I see the brightened faces of the people he visits and whose lives he touches, and realize his visits are never in vain. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an apologist for his actions concerning the sexual abuse cases, I think he was wrong in shifting the blame away from the church. However, this man has been preaching religious tolerance for the past thirty years, and with the world in its current state of turmoil, he should be lauded for trying to make the world a safer place for everyone.

"I like the taste, and I want to help the Palestinians," said an Egyptian fan of Yasser Arafat's potato chips, which state: "The more you buy, the more you build," on the label along with a likeness of the Palestinian leader.
