Metallica's Lars Ulrich, White Stripes fan:
"I have to say that I subscribe to the NME and after being bombarded by The White Stripes for the past year, when they came to San Francisco last month I thought – okay I have to go see this. It blew my mind. I’ve never seen anything quite like that. I went down after the show, I went in and humbly professed my love for what they were doing.
"We had a nice few moments, shared a few cigarettes and a couple of shots of Meg’s whiskey. It was just the three of us for about ten minutes – it was pretty cool. So I went out and bought their record the next day and I’ve been playing it on CD in hotels across Europe for the last week."
