Hip Is What Hip Does
The Kansas City Star reviews Saturday night's White Stripes show:
The Stripes aren't likely to save rock, but they could help revive the blues: The crowd showed lots of appreciation for Jack's slide guitar leads, though most were nothing more than low-budget versions of what you can hear almost every weekend at the Grand Emporium. But hip is what hip does, and this evening loud, fuzz-drenched and unshaven electric-blues riffs were in vogue, no matter how cliched they were.
