Driving Lessons
Things I learned driving to Austin:
1. Alabama's state bird is the flicker.
2. There is a drive-thru sex toy shop off I-20 in Louisiana (no, we didn't stop, but I did make the inevitable "Would you like to supersize that?" joke).
3. Listening to "Southern Rock Opera" by the Drive-By Truckers is unbelievably poignant while driving through Alabama.
4. The New Pornographers make excellent "sing-along while you drive" music.
5. Austin has grown immensely since I was last here in 1996 for SXSW
We're off to see Cody ChesnuTT and Liz Phair today...
