This Week's Interesting Music Releases (June 24th, 2008)
Alejandro Escovedo releases his ninth solo album tomorrow, Real Animal, a disc he calls his most rocking solo effort yet.
Other discs I can strongly recommend include Sigur Ros's fifth album, Meo suo i eyrum vio spilum endalaust (With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly), Amos Lee's Last Days At the Lodge, Electric President: Sleep Well, Hercules And Love Affair's self-titled debut, and the Watson Twins' Fire Songs.
Among the week's reissues, Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville has been remastered and is repackaged with some unreleased songs and a bonus DVD (and is fresh off a 9.6 review at Pitchfork).
Among vinyl reissues is a red vinyl copy of the Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, a 180-gram edition of the Drive-By Truckers' Brighter than Creation's Dark, and even a repressing of Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
