In Music We Trust lists ten reasons why the Rolling Stones were the best rock band in the world. In 1964 this was probably true (in my book, at least), until the Who released their first record the next year (of course, I was one year old in late '64, so my tastes weren't as developed as they are now!).
Posted by david on November 17, 2002not necessarily my choice of reasons, but in a fit of revisionist history, i have changed my vote of the best band ever from the who to the stones.
i think i even blogged about it....
Posted by: mike on November 18, 2002 02:49 PMFrom that era, the Stones are probably my third favorite band, behind the Who and the Kinks (who are sadly underrated, I think).
Posted by: david on November 18, 2002 07:58 PMguess i give th nod to the sones because: they have recorded many certifiable classics, they have had a very long career releasing some great music long after those other bands had either disbanded or were going thru the motions and there music seems to these ears to have held up better

They were louder than The Who, cooler than The Stones are their sentimental songs are sweeter than The Beatles!
Aaaah help me... I'm morphing into Jack Black.
