What Is *Emo* Anyway?

This website (like Clarissa) explains it all:

emo - short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock. This site is intended to introduce the reader to all the common styles, describe them musically, and give ideas about the essential records of all those styles. You will be an expert in emo, in the broad sense, after reading this website.

Emo is poetry transformed into a chord of music that tends to provoke tears from the eyes. Originating from hard-core rock, it created a new form of music that speaks truly from the heart of the singer.

who the fuck decided to class "emitonal" music as "emo"? the beatles were writing emotional songs, are they emo? jesus

despite popular opinion, emo started in the late 70's in the midwest. it came from punk and then was later dubbed hardcore because of the fact that it was screaming... genuine emo hasn't changed, it's just been renamed
