So Much For The Afterglow

Pitchfork lists their 20 worst post-breakup debacles. I strongly disagree with the Amps being on the list. Pacer is my favorite album of all time, its rawness and intimacy are pure genius to my ears. Cracker is another point of contention, their first album still gets serious rotation in my house, as does the rest of their catalog.

I totally thought of you when I saw the one about the Amps and Pacer, David--I remember saying to myself, "I know somebody who's going to be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed when he reads this!" :-)

You have to take Pitchfork with a shaker of salt, they're often looking for confrontation over substantive journalism.

I read this list a couple of days ago, and I agree with you on the Cracker thing. Personally I don't consider them "debable" worthy. I also liked Big Audio Dynamite's debut album.

I recognized the "pot-stirring". :-)

Cracker?! "The Golden Age"! Golly, what an ill-conceived, unconsciously narcissistic article that pitchforky thing was.

Oops. I meant to say "debacle". Obviously. Interestingly enough, Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven will be playing a few blocks away from where I live for free - (Cracker goes on first...)

What a great show! I've been listening to CVB's Tusk album in the car, it's wonderful stuff.
