Wal-Mart has jumped into online music sales. Unfortunately, their music store seems to echo their retail stores' record selections with only the most popular artists available. It will be interesting to compare sales with Apple's iTunes and the new Napster when all are mature. I'm pulling for iTunes. They carry more of the music I'm likely to buy.
Posted by david on December 30, 2003I see that Wal-Mart's music service is a big Microsoft extravaganza, by which I mean the songs are Windows Media files and you can't use a Mac to access anything. Also, I understand that the files downloaded from iTunes are of some format other than MP3 (I should have bothered to look the specifics before writing this). If ever I elect to finally take the plunge and sign up with somebody it would have to be http://www.emusic.com ... they have plenty of off-the-beaten-path goodies, and though their catalog may not be as extensive as other folk's there is still plenty of stuff to keep my 56k modem extremely busy.
Posted by: highronimus on December 30, 2003 10:35 AMJust wondering if anyone else had given allofmp3.com a try? It seems a tad too good to be true. For 5 bucks I downloaded 8 albums at 196 (mp3).
