Posted by david on March 02, 2004I'm not sure about the "satanic" message in Stairway to Heaven. The tempo seems to change at times, as if someone was messing with the sound clip.
Posted by: sugarmama on March 2, 2004 03:26 PMp.s. i am amazed that by interjecting some humor in her music she's accused of not taking it seriously. while i don't take all her lyrics at face value (i hope she's not as misanthropic as it seems in "it's a pose"), that doesn't mean that at their core they don't reflect genuine feelings.
contrast this with critical darling eminem - the common line for him is that he is essentially playing a character - i.e. he isn't homophobic or misogynist, his characters are - yeah right - if that is the case why isn't it said that he not taking his music seriously. mckay's humor is a sly wink, belying some of the more extreme lyrics...i get no sense of hatefulness from her....
