REM's Peter Buck's latest passion: buying iPods, filling them with music, then giving the devices away. (Free iPod update: still waiting for mine to ship. The promotion company has offered to swap the HP version for Apple's for a quicker delivery, but I'll wait for the original. In other news, I still need referrals for the Free Flatscreen and Free Desktop PC).

That review of the Garden State/Wicker Park soundtracks makes a couple of errors in stating that a) Mum is a Sigur Ros spinoff and b) that the Stereophonics are a great band.

I hope your iPod gets to you soon. Why don't you want the hp one? I hear they have extended phone support or something

Posted by: sharon on September 10, 2004 08:13 AM

How come you want the HP ipod instead of the Apple? Aren't they the same thing, just a different name on it?

Posted by: Torr on September 10, 2004 08:55 AM

Frank: I noticed the errors, but liked the concept of the article.

Sharon & Torr: I'm waiting for the Apple iPod. The hard driove in the HP is different, that and the branding are the only differences as far as I know. I figure that changing my order after waiting to ship since August 24th may just prolong my shipment.

I have a grand total of 1 so far.

plan on waiting longer for the ipod. i had my order "sent to vendor, etc" on the 13 of august. I've been monitoring the process, and people as far back as 8/4 are still waiting, and there are no updates for when they will be sent out. representatives from freeipods.com's parent company, Gratis Internet, have said that by accepting the HP model, which is no different, you are assured of getting the first available model, be it apple or HP. as someone who has already waited a month, and is expecting to at least wait another one, i'll take whatever i can get first

Re-Deez, I've been hitting the message boards occasionally myself. Eventually, I'll get mine, if I had paid for it with more than pam I'd be more worried.
