Tai Chi
The Columbus, Ohio Ledger-Inquirer talks about Tai Chi, a martial art exercise that improves strength, flexibility, and breathing without exercise equipment or the chance for injury.
Tai chi is based on the Chinese thought that there exists in the body a "chi," a vital force that animates the body. It is the center of a person's energy.
Acupuncture, said Chan, is also based on this idea. Tai chi has circular movements believed to circulate energy through the body in patterns almost identical to the vascular and nervous system.
"Two great things about tai chi," Chan said, "is that you don't need equipment -- not even a yoga pad -- and injuries are very rare. It's just something that makes you feel better."
