Massage Takes The Stress Out Of Dentistry

Having sharp pointy things in your mouth can be kind of nerve wracking. But, sometimes the perfect atmosphere can take the sting out of getting your teeth cleaned.

What sets Timm apart from most dentists is that his five treatment rooms overlook the soothing sight of a 14- by 55-foot pond. Water cascades down several steps to the pond, which is stocked with 40 fish. There are lily pads, and birds stop by the feeders, and deer walk up for a drink.

In addition, Maggie Navarre, one of Timm's dental hygienists, is a massage therapist. She will massage a patient's face, neck and shoulders if he or she wishes. Or, patients can opt for bags of beads warmed in the microwave and scented with lavender that are placed over their temples or eyes to relax them.

Here's something to think about: "Soda pop eats the enamel. Coke and Pepsi are one pH away from battery acid."
