The Role Of Lymph Drainage In Detox
Detox programs are no longer for addictions.
Living in a world brimming with pollution, preservatives, pesticides and processed foods is not only bad for us, but also the by-products of our unhealthy environment, diet and lifestyle can cause a toxic overload.
"A detox is really just to get back to basics, to get back to fresh foods and no processed foods, basically."
Diabetics, pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, people with liver and kidney dysfunction and the "underweight and the very underweight", MacGregor says, shouldn't attempt a detox at all.
Lymphatic drainage treatment uses gentle massaging techniques to activate or aid the flow of the lymphatic fluid in lymph vessels. "It can be beneficial to improve lymphatic flow with inflammatory or infective conditions, but you don't want to overdo it," Cohen says. "You need to approach it with caution and under the supervision of a practitioner."
"Having a good diet and having adequate water to flush out the kidneys is part of our management in most cases," Khoury says.
Cohen says that the formula for cleansing and detoxing is the same as the one he'd suggest for healthy living.
