Acne

Scientists have unraveled the genome for acne.

Unsightly acne pimples are the product of a hardy bacterium that is genetically programmed to degrade human skin, according to a study published on Friday.

Sometimes people who come for massage have acne, and as therapists we have to know how to address this problem. Generally, we avoid working areas of the body with acne. But when it is scattered over a broad area, such as someone's back, I use a broad tool, such as my forearm, which allows me to deliver adequate pressure to the muscles below without injuring the skin.

As an added service to my clients with acne, I use an herbal alcohol called Alcoholado distributed by PurePro to remove excess oil from the skin. It is also a nice service to offer my clients the alcohol if they are heading back to work--it helps stimulate their senses and wake them up from their "massage stupor." Alcohol also helps cool clients experiencing hot flashes while on my table.
