Berries Are Good For The Body
We went berry picking at our local fruit farm again this weekend. One of my resolutions this year was to eat healthier by including more fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables in our diet.
The raspberries were done though I was able to pick just a handful for sampling. Red crops such as raspberries and strawberries are loaded with antioxidants which are know to ward off heart disease and cancer.
Blueberries are out in force for the first time this week. The bushes were groaning so loaded with fruit! I was able to pick all I need this week off of one bush. Blueberries probably pack the biggest punch by way of antioxidants per square inch. The are also an approved food for those who suffer with interstitial cystitis.
Blackberries are just beginning and we picked about one pound. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to prepare these since I'm not inclined to just eat them by the handful.
