Therapist On A Mission
Mary Fanning is a massage therapist on a mission. A board member with an HIV/AIDS volunteer organization, Fanning is headed to Africa. Not only is she offering massage to AIDS patients, but she plans to educate people in self-care to ease their suffering.
"It's definitely not a hit-and-run mission," Fanning said. "Our goal is to educate, train, heal, encourage, and -- in my eyes, this is most important - install hope in hundreds of people."
In her practice, Fanning sees the positive effects of massage on HIV-infected patients. It relieves stress and helps alleviate nausea and vomiting.
