Addressing Knee Pain
My new Massage Therapy Journal arrived in the mail today. The cover article is "Massage Methods for Knee Pain." I'm looking forward to reading this article because I've been having inner knee pain lately.
Despite two massages from my very competent peers, a little bit of self-care and careful use of the knee, I still had pain. This concerns me because I stand through much of my day. Sitting with my feet tucked under my chair (with the toes splayed outward) aggravates the knee. Whenever I squatted there was some crepitis in the knee and it felt as though the tibia and fibula were out of position.
This weekend, I worked on my own leg and found that my lateral hamstring was very tight (and very tender). With this work, rest, and a change in my shoes, the knee feels better this week. The lateral hamstring stressing the inner knee was not a relationship that I had thought of, so I will be interested to see if the massage therapy journal addresses this pattern.
Feedback from my readers about encountering and treating this pattern is welcome and appreciated.
