Balancing Activity In Care Of Fibromyalgia
Sarah Jerrell is the captain on her high-school volleyball team. She has fibromyalgia, but most of her teammates don't even know it. Diagnosed four and a half years ago, she describes her pain as "it feels like is if you've ever had the flu, your body is fatigued and sore and achy."
She says that balancing physical activity is crucial. Not enough will aggravate the condition as will too much activity. She has found ways to cope with the condition, however.
"They have different herbal supplements that I take," said Jerrell, who also counts massage therapy and acupuncture among her treatments. Next week, she will go through cranial sacral therapy, another form of massage.
