Brain Gym

While in massage school I first learned about Brain Gym from my Touch for Health instructor. For me "brain buttons" and "cross crawl" were the most useful techniques for recharging my energy and refocusing my mind after a long period of studying. Occasionally I assign these activities to my clients.

The Brain Gym activities are based on the educational kinesiology research of a remedial educational specialist named Paul Dennison to help create new connections between different parts of the brain as well as between the brain and body.

While he doesn't credit Brain Gym activities exclusively with improving student scores, he feels it supports the other things he does in the classroom, such as differentiated instruction and multiple kinds of intelligence.
