Medical Tourism

Medical tourism is the up and coming attraction to Asian countries such as the Philippines.

Taking its cue from the success of its Asian neighbors, the government began its own medical tourism program in 2004. Citing figures from the International Trade Center Geneva, Del Mundo pegged the global medical tourism industry at $20 billion. In Asia, he said the industry was dominated by India, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Of course, massage therapy, especially indigenous varieties such as pinot hiloy which has therapeutic benefits, are featured.

Besides the common hilot, included were the "dinalisay, kisig galing, unang lana, tapik kawayan, paligo, oslob and dagdagay," the latter a form of tribal foot massage, Del Mundo told the Inquirer in an interview.
