Marketing Your Massage Practice
As anyone who has ever been in business knows, starting is the hardest part. Marketing helps, but can be often ineffective, costly and frustrating in its meager returns. Jay McEachern is a licensed massage therapist in Palm Springs California. He shares his experiences starting his business with his hometown paper, the Desert Sun.
Question: Is your business growing naturally or are you doing anything to help your business grow?
Answer: I'm trying to help it grow naturally. The people who come in here and have problems are telling their friends who have problems. I'm selling what I do to my clients, which in turn by word of mouth, helps bring in other clients.
Q: What practical lessons can another business learn from your experiences?
A: Do more research on startup costs and licensing. I underestimated the startup costs by probably 25 percent, maybe more.
As for myself, I have found word-of-mouth to be the best advertising for my practice.
