Homeless Fair Touching People In Need
Oakland, California hosts a homeless fair once every six months. The project reaches out to homeless men and women providing medical and dental care, a Caring Court where minor legal infractions are cleared, alcohol and drug addiction programs, and massage.
Will Rice enjoyed the first massage of his life Friday -- so much so that his eyes were closed, and he was oblivious to the world around him for the first time in ages.
And although officials don't expect to solve homelessness overnight, they hope the fairs will get people into the network of programs and off the streets.
"It's really appreciated," Scott said. "It's really a godsend. I hope it continues in the future, as long as homelessness exists."
