Speaking Jitters
I have to give a lecture about massage therapy today at lunch. And while I've never been a big fan of public speaking, I find I'm much more comfortable talking to a group when I know my topic well.
A quick outline:
I. Introduction
A. Has anyone here had a massage?
B. Was it a positive experience?
C. How did it make you feel? What were some benefits?
II. Massage: History and Statistics
A. Massage as the oldest form of medicine
B. Massage and it’s Misconception with Prostitution
C. After the War
D. Massage Statistics
III. Benefits of Massage
A. General Benefits of Massage
B. Modalities That I use and Some of Their Benefits
C. Some Self-Help Tips
IV. What to Expect During a Massage
A. Finding a Qualified Therapist
B. The Intake
C. Massage Protocols
V. Conclusion
A. Question and Answer Session
B. Review Contents of Handout
In my handout, I've included a fact sheet about massage, its benefits, and research studies (found at the AMTA website). I've put together a brochure outlining what new clients can expect when they go for a massage and how to find a qualified therapist (some of which I found at the ABMP website). And finally, I've enclosed a discount coupon and my business card to encourage people to come and experience a massage for themselves.
