Iliotibial Band Syndrome

Running, walking, or cycling can flare up a condition typically called runner's knee.

The most common symptoms of Iliotibial band syndrome or ITBS, usually includes a burning pain on the outside of the knee or hip about 20 minutes into a run.

Many practitioners will recommend stretching, massage, ultrasound, and soft-tissue techniques, all with varied effectiveness. The most important aspect of overcoming an injury such as iliotibial band syndrome is a rehabilitation program to correct muscle imbalances in the lower body.
