Down Under Massage Warning
In Australia, regulation of the massage industry is "almost nonexistent," according to this article, which cautions would-be massage clients to check their practitioner's credentials before getting a massage.
"It's very easy for anyone to put up a sign and call themselves a massage therapist because the industry isn’t regulated at the moment."
Until the Federal Government concludes its assessment of the industry's regulatory needs, it is up to you to check your therapist's qualifications.
Check first whether the masseur is part of an organisation like the Association of Massage Therapists.
