'Tis The Season For Ticks

I make it part of my standard practice to check clients for suspicious moles, but I never figured part of my job would be to help my clients check for ticks. It makes sense, however, since it is summer and many people are involved in outdoor activities in wooded yards or clearing invasive shrubbery.

Such was the case with two clients this week. One works as a landscaper, the other a homeowner. In one case after their shower, my client felt like they had something crawling on them but couldn't locate it. I saw nothing and didn't think of it again until I left the session and found the tick on me! Let me tell you those little suckers can move!

I flicked it off of my clothing and encased it in a piece of tape. Retracing my steps, I realized it must have come off of my client's clothing which had been hanging on the back of the door. When I opened the door the tick jumped onto me.

Ticks can harbor diseases such as Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever but other diseases can be transmitted as well.
