Assisted Stretching
If you want to reach places you've never been before, or at least return to places you could reach only in the past, then you may enjoy assisted stretching.
Assisted stretching - in which a trainer, or massage or physical therapist helps to lengthen muscles - can help increase range of motion, reduce pain and reopen neuromuscular pathways in everyone from world-class athletes to post-surgical patients.
Even though she stretched regularly, Fox, 53, didn't realize how limited the motion in her neck and shoulders had become until she left her first session with Klinker.
On its own, the body's reaction is not to go past that pain, he says. But when a trainer or therapist takes over the stretch, benefits can increase.
