Please Become An Organ Donor
I was relieved to hear from client with cystic fibrosis recently. Tests have been run and the good news is that they qualify for a lung transplant.
They came to see me because their latest stay in the hospital left their back and legs in spasm. I had only a half hour session left for that Friday, so we made another appointment for the next week. The appointment time came and my client, who is usually early, did not arrive. I give all my clients 10 minutes before I call in case they are simply running late (also the reason I usually book appointments with a half hour between them).
Their spouse answered the phone. They had forgotten to call and cancel their appointment. The nature of being on a transplant list means being next to the phone, bags packed, and ready to drop everything in case a donor gift is available. I was jubilant to discover this was the case for my client. They underwent a successful lung transplant surgery and are recuperating on a ventilator.
I am an organ donor. Please, please, please become an organ donor if you are not one already. The need for organ donation is critical. Nineteen people die every day waiting for organ donation. New people are added to the list of people in need every 13 minutes.
