Positioning
Today we learned about positioning patients in critical settings. Most clients who need help are in ICU or are comatose. However, burn patients, folks with amputations and the elderly need special positioning to prevent complications to their conditions.
Many of the bolstering techniques remind me of the clinic setting in massage. In order to gain better access to structures such as the neck and hips, I would position clients in a side-lying position. Support was needed under their head, between their knees and between their feet for optimal comfort and stability.
