Christmas Mix CD
I've been searching for a theme for the Christmas mix CD that serves as our Xmas card, but have been shooting blanks. Besides acquiring (and listening to) holiday albums all year, last year's "Lounge Christmas" is proving hard to beat.
Current ideas: various versions of indie (poppy, sorrowful, depressed, loving), old country, dance and techno. The best new holiday song I've heard lately is Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) covering Blue Christmas, it's a pared down arrangement to a heartbreaking tune. I'd like the mix to have an underlying theme and be kid (and mother-in-law) friendly, ruling out some of my favorite Xmas tunes.
Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?
