Shorties

Drive-By Truckers have announced some spring and summer tour dates, along with some solo shows for members Patterson Hood and Jason Isbell.

To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Brian Eno's Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy, Doug Hilsinger and Caroleen Beatty have recorded a "heavy-handed interpretation" of the album, endorsed by Eno himself! Compare for yourself, there are mp3 samples of every song on their website, then buy the album if you like what you hear!

"With the proliferation of 'reality' programming, I thought this series would pose an interesting challenge to me as a documentarian: to find the balance between history and entertainment and to explore the genre of reality TV for the first time." Director Kristi Jacobson talks about directing three episodes of "Colonial House."

"I've always liked having some sort of format to work within. I like artificial constraints. If there are no constraints, then I make my own up. This time I tried to use no synthesizers, have everything be hand played, use hardly any reverb, and be the only singer." Stephin Merritt explains the concepts behind the new Magnetic Fields record, "i."
