I was a bit wary of Less Than Heroes, a collection of superhero comics by David Yurkovich. I have never been much of a fan of the superhero genre on screen or in print, but Yurkovich won me over with his tight storylines and cutting pop culture wit. The story of four Philadelphia misfit non-union superheroes, Less Than Heroes is a quick but fulfilling read. The added essay on superheroes and aging was a wonderful surprise and fascinated me as much as the comics.
My next book is The Wonder: Portraits of a Remembered City, Volume 1, by Chicago artist Tony Fitzpatrick.
