I finished Freaks and Fire: The Underground Reinvention of the Circus (excerpt) yesterday. In profiling underground circuses, J. Dee Hill focuses on these performers' individuality and talent without exploiting them. Phil Hollenbeck's black and white photographs capture the raw spirit of these performers and are the perfect accompaniment to Hill's prose. If sideshows have ever captured your fancy, this is a book you have to read.
My next book is Graffiti World, Nicholas Ganz's survey of graffiti art.
