Graffiti World by Nicholas Ganz is a visual stunner. With over 2,000 photos of graffiti art from all over the world, Ganz allows the artwork to tell his story with a minimum of text. The brief introductions to every artist often give the bare minimum information, but you do not buy a coffee table book like this to learn about the artists. The photos consistently amaze with the breadth of graffiti styles from all over the world, art that transcends the paint on walls or trains most associate with the art form. These artists have mastered the medium, and I was impressed with almost every page of Graffiti World.
My next book is Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation. Hopefully I can catch up on my pleasure reading this week, I've been reading too many books for work and books (more often, portions of books) on the side for my new Book Notes feature.
