Robert Pollard has announced another Guided By Voices compilation, Suitcase II, which will consist of a hundred songs on four discs (the same format as the original Suitcase). The expected release date is Halloween, 2005, which is also Pollard's birthday.

In other Pollard news, music critic (and former GBV bassist as well as Kim Deal's ex-fiance) Jim Greer's book on Bob Pollard will hit the streets in late October or early November. The book, titled Guided By Voices: A Brief History. Twenty-one Years Of Hunting Accidents In The Forests Of Rock And Roll, will feature an introduction by Steven Soderbergh and "incredibly poignant commentary from people like Ric Ocasek, Dennis Cooper, Bun E Carlos, and Bryan Pollard." I'm expecting something along the line of Greg Kot's Wilco book, but a bit more of a love-in. Has anyone read Greer's REM: Behind the Mask?
