Shorties

If you are anywhere near Pioneertown, California, think about attending the first annual Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven Campout this weekend.

Buscate En Nuvio is a blog dedicated to "music, women & mp3."

Bret Easton Ellis is interviewed by Suicide Girls.

Lunar Park came out of wanting to write a Stephen King novel. In 1989, I wanted to write two genre novels. I wanted to write a Stephen King novel and a Robert Ludlum novel. I loved those genres and those writers.

Also from Suicide Girls, an interview with Stephen Malkmus:

SG: Have you gotten past the point where your music is as personal as it once was and now you’re just experimenting?

SM: Not necessarily. There are some lyrics on this record that are pretty sincere and somewhat deep. But I think the general tone for me is to take a stab at things that are within my reach. Like I won’t fight with you if you’re outside my punching range and if you are, watch out! [laughs]

The San Francisco Chronicle profiles the Berkeley record shop, Mod Lang.

The Seattle Post Intelligencer reviews some Bumbershoot Festival shows.

BBC News makes a last ditch handicap of the Mercury Music Prize, which will be announced tonight). Be the first person to guess the winner in the comments, and win a fantastic largehearted prize pack (maybe not fantastic, but at least a couple of CD's).
