I love books filled with historical tidbits, information that has somehow passed me by. Mental Floss Presents: Forbidden Knowledge is filled with subjects like this. Organized in seven chapters (with each titled after a deadly sin), the book offers lists of the history you weren't taught in school, and a fascinating history it is. From "Utopian Communities (That Bombed Miserably)" to "Resting on Someone Else's Laurels: Figures Who Claimed Someone Else's Fame," the book's lists are small enough to read in minutes, but fact-filled enough to be satisfying. This could be the best bathroom book ever written...
