Largehearted List - March 27, 2006

The Largehearted List is a new feature for Largehearted Boy. Every week, I will list the eleven music posts that caught my eye from the previous week. If you have a great post, or want to pass one on, feel free to e-mail me the link. The posts will be listed alphabetically by blog name, and the list will be posted every Monday afternoon.

Here is the inaugural Largehearted List for March 27, 2006:

1. An Aquarium Drunkard: Justin has been posting a "lost album series" of albums that never saw an official release, most of which have reached almost mythical stature. This week's collection of 1969 Bob Dylan/Johnny Cash recording sessions exemplifies the series. Many thanks to Justin for posting this wonderful recording.

2. Chromewaves: Frank shares his SXSW photos, and is as talented a lensman as a music (or travel, or movie) writer.

3. Gorilla vs. Bear: Birmonster has finished their debut album (one of my most anticipated albums of the year), and Chris is sharing one of the tracks, "Spaceman." (see also: Music (for Robots) for "Balcony" from the album)

4. Lullabyes: Mo made soundboard recordings of several shows at SXSW, including Magnet, Aqueduct, and this Brunettes show, and graciously allowed me to link to the posts.

5. Marathonpacks: Eric reassesses the career of French pop music legend Serge Gainsbourg.

6. Muzzle of Bees: Ryan shared a Paris show by the National from April of this year.

7. One Louder: One Louder calls for full disclosure from music blogs on their relationship with labels and artists.

8. Said the Gramophone: Sean managed to introduce me to Bear Creek (and prompted an album purchase), enhance my love for Casey Dienel, announce some Akon/Family news, and introduce a clever contest for the film Drawing Restraint 9 in one post.

9. So Much Silence: Kevin shared Tapes 'n Tapes recent KEXP in-studio performance. I've been listening to Tapes 'n Tapes for a couple of years, and am glad to see them getting some online buzz.

10. You Ain't No Picasso: Matt makes the list for pointing out the new Bearsuit video for "Steven F***ing Spielberg."

11. Zoilus: Carl Wilson reviews the Destroyer and Magik Markers Toronto performances with the signature flair that keeps me a regular reader of his writing.
