Largehearted List - April 17, 2006

When I compiled this week's Largehearted List, there were over thirty posts I had bookmarked to consider. After much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, here are the eleven music blog posts I found most interesting this past week (in alphabetical order):

1. Blasting Fonda reviewed Wednesday's Death Cab for Cutie/Franz Ferdinand Boston show, and included a list of "things I hated about the crowd at this show."

2. Cable and Tweed shared live Belle & Sebastian covers, then later added even more.

3. Captain's Dead shared a handful of live Rolling Stones covers by Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers.

4. Loosie examined the rising tensions between northern and southern rappers.

5. Mocking Music presented a mix of the best songs with "pink" in the title.

6. Music (For Robots) gave some much-deserved love to Dudley Perkins and his song, "Funky Dudley."

7. randominnyc posted its sixth hypothetical (and hilarious) Sufjan Stevens album tracklist, for "Texas: The Lone(ly) Star State."

8. rbally shared a classic 1984 REM radio performance.

9. Stereogum gave away the entire Neil Young discography to one reader, but we all win with these eleven covers (plus the original) of "Cinnamon Girl."

10. ...whatever, tell it to your blog listed its 31 favorite songs of 2006 (so far).

11. You Ain't No Picasso posted a magnificent spring mix.
