As I impatiently await her solo album's release, Alina Simone has made a couple of tracks available from a lo-fi, electronic collaboration with Kevin C. Smith. Calling themselves the Artificial Sea, the duo has an album (tentatively titled "City Island") coming out this fall on the French label, Travelling Music. According to Simone the album is "very rich in texture and diverse in instrumentation. In composing the music, Kevin used both electronic beats, live drums and samples, as well as 'real' cellos, horns, chord organs, toy instruments, guitar, bass, etc."
