With his graphic novel, Billy Hazelnuts, Tony Millionaire has created a dark fairy tale that would please even the Brothers Grimm. Mixing a girl scientist, a golem made by rats from discarded foodstuffs (the title character), a seeing-eye skunk and a steam-driven alligator into a story is no small feat, but Millionaire pulls it off with ease. His retro ink drawings are as expressive as the dialogue, and serve the story well.
My next book is Ryu Murakami's In the Miso Soup.
