I am afraid I have fallen out of love with Douglas Coupland. Ten years ago, I eagerly awaited every novel, but since then, we have been drifting apart. After reading JPod, we are definitely just friends now. Though I enjoyed the book, and devoured it in a couple of hours, I wondered what I was left with after I shut its cover. Like a good thriller or romance novel, the book moved quickly with a dose of humor, but the cubicle-dwelling characters were a bit too one-dimensional, and Coupland's insistence on putting himself in the novel just didn't work for me (he's no Bret Easton Ellis). If you've read Coupland's Microserfs, skip JPod...
My next book is McSweeney's Quarterly Concern Volume 19.
