October 7, 2006Drawn and Quarterly has quickly become my favorite publisher of graphic novels. Not only are their printing and book design standards high, seemingly every D&Q book I read leaves me in awe of their authors. I have seen Philip Dupuy & Charles Berberian's work in compilations and periodicals, and have always aimed to read one of their books. Get a Life follows Monsieur Jean as he traipses through his bohemian life facing a myriad of personal crises. Monsieur Jean's struggles with romance, his parents, and even cat-sitting strike a chord with everyone, and the fantastic scenes he fancies for himself are all escapes we've made ourselves. A truly charming book, I am looking forward to reading more from the authors.
My next book is Chuck Klosterman's Chuck Klosterman IV.
