This Week's Interesting CD Releases
Sing your children (or yourself) to sleep with Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of the Rolling Stones. Of the releases I have already sampled, I can strongly recommend Linda Thompson's Versatile Heart, Nina Nastasia & Jim White's You Follow Me. Erik Friedlander's Block Ice & Propane is one of the best albums I have heard all year, an intriguing contemporary jazz album from an artist who has been featured on recent albums by the Mountain Goats and John Vanderslice.
The only reissue worth mentioning is singer-songwriter Sam Baker's mercy.
Oh, according to a friend's ten year-old daughter, Disney's High School Musical 2 is the only album worth buying this week, perhaps this year.
