This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (November 13th, 2007)

At the top of my preorder list this week is the seventh season of the Gilmore Girls. Though I admit the series lost some of its zing towards the end, the final season includes one of the best series finales I have ever seen. The complete Gilmore Girls seven season collection is also available tomorrow.

Other complete television series available this week include the Addams Family, Miami Vice, and Dinner for Five. The third season of Aaron Spelling's Melrose Place and the "extra stoopid edition" of the Young Ones are also released tomorrow.

The most interesting DVD release (in terms of quantity) is the TV Sci-Fi Bundle, which includes:

Buffy - Collector's Set
Angel - Collector's Set
All 10 separate season sets of Stargate SG-1
3 season sets released to date of Stargate: Atlantis
4 seasons of The Pretender, plus the TV Movies DVD
Firefly - The Complete Series
3 seasons of Roswell
Both seasons of Dark Angel
The X-Files - The Complete Collector's Edition

Interesting feature film releases include Shrek the Third, the Criterion Collection release of Berlin Alexanderplatz, and the 30th anniversary edition of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Two live music performance DVD releases stand out: Mika: Live In Cartoon Motion and Ghostland Observatory: Live from Austin Texas.

For your winter holiday viewing, It's a Wonderful Life has been released again, this time with both color and black-and-white versions, along with two Johnny Cash Cristmas specials (from 1976 & 1977).
