45 Down, 7 To Go (52 Books, 52 Weeks) ("Shortcomings")
Adrian Tomine is one of my favorite cartoonists. He is as deft with his pen as his dialogue, and Shortcomings is a great example of his talent. Collecting Optic Nerve issues 9, 10, and 11 into one volume, my only issue with this graphic novel is having previously read a third of this book. Still, Tomine's storytelling ease draws the reader into the storyline of Ben Tanaka and his girlfriend Miko's troubled relationship in possibly the best graphic novel i have read all year.
