The New York Daily News profiles singer-songwriter Johnathan Rice, including his sometime controversial relationship (in the blogs, at least) with Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis.

There's been particular resentment toward Rice from the blogmeisters because girlfriend Lewis came along earlier and has a longer record of respect. Also, since Lewis co-wrote seven of the 11 songs with Rice on "North," some bloggers have speculated, unfavorably, on what his contribution might have been. "It's interesting to see what people interpret as her contribution," Rice says. "A lot of them assume it was lyrical, and I would say it's almost exclusively not. Her touch was more playful and melodic than anything else."
