This Week's Interesting DVD Releases (April 8th, 2008)
Of the feature films out on DVD this week, none has been recommended more than Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood. Based on Upton Sinclair's novel Oil!, the film stars Daniel Day-Lewis and will probably be in my DVD player tomorrow evening.
Other noteworthy theatrical DVD releases include the comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Manda Bala, a documentary about corruption and frog farming in Brazil. American Drug War: The Last White Hope, a documentary about the US war on drugs, also looks interesting.
I don't usually believe in guilty pleasures, but I sure felt guilty watching the first season of Bret Michaels' Rock of Love (out tomorrow). I felt a little better after my wife asked me to pick up the DVD to catch the episodes she missed.
I am picking up Hell's Kitchen: Season 1. I caught the first episode of the series and missed the rest, but have really enjoyed Chef Ramsey on the BBC's Kitchen Nightmares, so I'll give the show another chance.
No notable music releases caught my eye, but fans of the Fab Four may enjoy The Beatles: Rare & Unseen.
April is National Poetry Month, and the sixth season of Def Poetry is a great way to celebrate.
